What is Eswatini ERS.EIS?
ERS.EIS is the Electronic Invoicing System of the Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS), launched publicly as the TaxCore Electronic Invoicing Programme. ERS chose well: TaxCore is a mature, proven fiscalisation platform that already runs the systems FiscoBridge supports in Fiji, Samoa and Vanuatu, so Eswatini businesses get a technology with years of real-world operation behind it and a FiscoBridge team that knows it inside out. ERS.EIS gives ERS timely, reliable information about business transactions and lets businesses move away from manual invoice schedules and repetitive monthly reporting through TaxEase.
Under the ERS e-invoicing framework, businesses use accredited fiscalisation technology, an Electronic Fiscal Device made up of a POS and a Sales Data Controller, to create prescribed fiscal documents, protect the integrity of transaction data and transmit it to ERS. Depending on the workflow, the document can be a fiscal receipt, tax invoice, credit note or debit note, and each one carries a verification QR code the customer can scan.
This is more than emailing a PDF invoice. What matters is the fiscalisation process (also spelled fiscalization) behind the invoice: the accredited system, the fiscal reference and signature, and the reporting required by ERS.
Which taxpayers must issue electronic fiscal documents, and from when, is set by ERS through its notices and onboarding directions. Visit the Eswatini Revenue Service website for the official notices and guidelines that apply to your business.
Who needs ERS e-invoicing software?
This page is for Eswatini businesses and advisors that operate or support:
- Retail stores, wholesalers and supermarkets using tills, POS terminals or central billing systems
- Restaurants, cafés and hospitality businesses issuing customer receipts throughout the day
- Service companies and professional firms invoicing from an accounting platform
- Businesses with multiple branches that need one coordinated fiscalisation approach
- Accounting firms and bookkeepers helping clients connect their invoicing to ERS
- POS vendors, ERP resellers and software developers integrating fiscalisation without a rebuild
- Businesses looking for ERS-accredited POS or Sales Data Controller software
- Xero, Odoo, Sage or QuickBooks users in Eswatini who want invoices fiscalised automatically
Not every business needs the same technical setup. Start from where your invoices are created today and pick the route that adds fiscalisation to that workflow.
How does electronic fiscalisation work?
A typical fiscalisation workflow follows four steps. The exact sequence depends on the approved implementation for your business.
-
Create the sale or invoice
Your POS, Web Invoicing, accounting software or ERP prepares the transaction as it does today.
-
Pass it to FiscoBridge
The invoice data goes to the FiscoBridge SDC or Cloud POS, which applies the ERS tax labels and signs the document.
-
Generate the fiscal document
The fiscal invoice number, signature and verification QR code are returned for the receipt or invoice.
-
Report to ERS and keep records
Fiscal data is transmitted to ERS.EIS online or on the next sync, and the business keeps a record for reconciliation.
Which FiscoBridge solution should you choose?
You do not necessarily need to replace your POS or accounting system. Pick the route that matches where invoices are created in your business today.
Existing POS + FiscoBridge SDC
Best for: supermarkets, retailers, restaurants and POS vendors keeping their checkout software
The ERS-accredited FiscoBridge Sales Data Controller is the fiscalisation layer between your existing POS and ERS. The POS sends invoice data to a local API, the SDC signs it, reports it to ERS and returns the fiscal number and QR code for the receipt. No POS replacement, and sales keep working when the connection drops.

Best for: businesses that do not need a full retail POS or custom integration
Issue fiscal invoices from any browser instead of installing a till application. FiscoBridge Web Invoicing is ERS-accredited as a Cloud POS: upload your ERS-issued digital certificate, create the invoice, and the signed document with its verification QR code is ready to send or print. Requires an internet connection.

Best for: retail stores, restaurants and cafés that need a complete till
A modern point of sale for Windows, macOS and Linux with inventory, customers, shifts and reports built in. Fiscalisation runs through the accredited FiscoBridge SDC, so there is no separate POS to buy and integrate. Best for: service businesses and accounting firms invoicing in Xero, Odoo or QuickBooks Online
Invoices raised in Xero are fiscalised in real time and the ERS fiscal number is written back onto the invoice. Odoo (Online or self-hosted) and QuickBooks Online follow the same model. You choose whether fiscalisation happens when an invoice is approved or when payment is recorded.

Best for: businesses running Sage 300 ERP or invoicing in Zoho Books
Invoices generated in Sage 300 or Zoho Books are fiscalised automatically through FiscoBridge while your business processes stay unchanged. Sage 300 is an ERP integration, so our team provides dedicated onboarding support to map your tax codes, customers and document types before you go live.

Best for: POS developers, ERP resellers, larger retailers, hotels and specialised software
If your software can exchange invoice data with an API, you can add fiscalisation without replacing the system your staff already know. FiscoBridge helps evaluate the required fields, the fiscal document output and the connection to the accredited SDC or Cloud POS. For developers maintaining POS software across many clients, one integration covers every Eswatini installation.
Read the POS to SDC API integration guideCan you keep your existing POS or accounting software?
Often, yes. If your current POS can be adapted to send invoice data to an API and receive the fiscalisation result, you can keep the checkout application, the touch screens, barcode readers and receipt printers, and add FiscoBridge SDC as the fiscalisation layer behind them.
If you use an accounting system or ERP, the right route depends on the exact product and deployment. A cloud accounting integration, an on-premise SDC or a custom connector may be suitable. Our team reviews the workflow with you before you commit to a new system.
For accounting firms and resellers, FiscoBridge can assess several client setups at once and recommend one consistent implementation approach across the practice.
Can Xero, Odoo, Sage or QuickBooks invoices be fiscalised?
Yes. For service businesses and accounting practices this is usually the simplest route. Invoices created in Xero stay in Xero. FiscoBridge reads them, fiscalises the data through the accredited Cloud POS, and writes the ERS fiscal number and verification link back so the accounting record matches what ERS has on file. Fiscalisation can be triggered when an invoice is approved or when payment is recorded.
Odoo and QuickBooks Online follow the same pattern. Odoo is supported on Odoo Online and on self-hosted, on-premise deployments; the connection method is chosen during setup.
Sage 300 connects as an ERP integration: invoices generated in Sage are fiscalised automatically and the fiscal reference is kept with the document, while your existing business processes stay unchanged. Our team provides dedicated onboarding support for Sage deployments. Zoho Books is supported as a cloud integration in the same way as Xero.
Business-to-business invoices in Eswatini must carry the buyer's TIN, name and physical address. The integrations take these from the customer record in your accounting system, so keep customer details complete before going live.
Can fiscalisation work when the internet goes down?
Internet reliability matters for retail, hospitality and businesses trading outside the main centres. The two FiscoBridge routes behave differently, so choose with that in mind.
Local SDC with a secure element. The FiscoBridge SDC signs each invoice locally against the ERS-issued secure element during the sale, not against an internet connection. You keep selling and printing compliant receipts, and the SDC queues the fiscal data and audit records for transmission to ERS when connectivity returns.
Web Invoicing (Cloud POS). The browser-based route fiscalises online with your ERS-issued digital certificate and needs a live connection. It suits businesses that invoice from an office or have dependable connectivity.
Important: offline capability does not remove the obligation to report fiscal data within the time limits ERS sets. Reporting should happen as close to real time as your approved setup allows.
How to get started with ERS e-invoicing
Five steps that take most businesses from "we have heard about e-invoicing" to a tested, live setup.
-
Confirm your ERS requirements
Check which ERS notices apply to your taxpayer account and register with ERS for e-invoicing. ERS issues the secure element or digital certificate your fiscalisation setup will use.
-
Identify where invoices are created
List your POS devices, locations, accounting systems, ERP software and monthly invoice volumes. This usually determines which fiscalisation route is simplest.
-
Choose the fiscalisation setup
An existing POS with FiscoBridge SDC, browser-based Web Invoicing, Desktop POS with the SDC, or an integration for Xero, Odoo, Sage, QuickBooks or Zoho Books.
-
Prepare tax and business details
Check your TIN, branch information and the customer details needed on business-to-business invoices. Map your tax codes to the ERS tax labels and load the ERS credentials into your chosen configuration.
-
Test, train and go live
Test normal sales, refunds and tax treatment with training invoices, verify the fiscal receipt and reporting flow, and make sure staff know what to do if the internet is interrupted. Then switch to live fiscal invoices.
Pricing and implementation
The right subscription depends on how you issue invoices, not only on the size of your business. Every plan can be installed and tested free with training invoices; going live requires a paid plan.
When requesting a recommendation, it helps to share:
- Number of companies, branches and POS terminals
- Whether you need an existing-POS connection or a complete new POS
- Accounting or ERP software currently used
- Approximate monthly invoice volume
- Whether you need local offline fiscalisation
- Whether you are a taxpayer, accounting firm, software developer or reseller

Frequently asked questions — Eswatini ERS e-invoicing
Practical answers for Eswatini business owners, accountants, POS vendors and software providers.
ERS.EIS is the Electronic Invoicing System of the Eswatini Revenue Service. It was publicly launched as the TaxCore Electronic Invoicing Programme, so both names refer to the same system. It supports the creation, protection and reporting of prescribed electronic fiscal documents.
ERS determines which taxpayers must issue electronic fiscal documents through its notices and onboarding directions, and the framework applies across retail, wholesale, hospitality, services and other VAT-registered activity. Check the requirements for your own taxpayer account with ERS. FiscoBridge can be set up as soon as you have your ERS credentials.
Yes. FiscoBridge holds ERS accreditation for its Sales Data Controller (SDC) and its Cloud POS (Web Invoicing). FiscoBridge Desktop POS and the Xero, Odoo, Sage, QuickBooks and Zoho Books integrations fiscalise through these accredited components. The right solution for your business depends on your workflow and ERS requirements.
Not necessarily. If your POS can be modified to send invoice data to the FiscoBridge SDC API, you can keep the current system and add FiscoBridge as the fiscalisation layer. POS vendors integrate once and reuse the same connection for every client.
Yes. Xero, Odoo, QuickBooks Online and Zoho Books invoices are fiscalised in real time when approved or paid, and Sage 300 connects as an ERP integration with onboarding support from our team. The ERS fiscal number and verification link are written back to the accounting record. Contact us to confirm the setup for your platform.
Yes. Browser-based Web Invoicing lets you issue fiscal invoices from any device with your ERS certificate. Businesses that also need a till, inventory and shift reporting should look at FiscoBridge Desktop POS.
With a local SDC and the ERS-issued secure element, yes: invoices are signed locally and the fiscal data is transmitted when the connection returns. Browser-based Web Invoicing requires internet access. Offline transactions must still be reported to ERS within the applicable time limits.
It depends on the route. A local SDC uses the secure element ERS issues for the device; Web Invoicing and the accounting integrations use an ERS-issued digital certificate. Both are provided through the tax authority's authorised process, and FiscoBridge helps you determine which applies to your setup.
Yes. The ERS framework covers credit notes, debit notes, refunds and other prescribed document types, and FiscoBridge issues them as fiscal transactions that reference the original invoice rather than editing a completed record. Ask our team to review any specialised refund or adjustment process.
No. A regular PDF is not a fiscalised invoice. Compliance depends on the accredited fiscalisation process, the fiscal number, signature and verification QR code on the document, and the reporting of the transaction to ERS.
Yes. We work with POS and ERP vendors that want to connect existing business applications to ERS through the SDC API or Cloud POS, and with accounting firms and resellers serving many clients. Contact us to discuss integration and partnership options.
